About ARC-FoundationAs a Center within the Division of Emergency Medicine, (Department of Surgery at the School of Medicine), ARC started in 2003 with an eminent group of volunteers as its Advisory Board. To help the center obtain support and philanthropic funding, this ARC Advisory Board created a non-profit corporation, the ARC-Foundation, in the fall of 2007. ARC-F received tax-exempt status under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code in March 2008. ARC-F's sole mission is to support the work of ARC. Why does the Foundation exist? Most of ARC’s current research is funded through grants from national research institutions, such as the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense. To maintain its status as the leading center for altitude and hypoxia research in the U.S., ARC needs to continually develop new programs and attract first class researchers. This requires an additional revenue stream, which the Foundation aims at providing. How you can help. Current Members of the Board
